Women’s Therapy

WomenWomen healers were my early guides.

My initiation into women’s healing began in my early 20s. Women healers and teachers, including Nyame Selassie and Maria de Tulum, among others, invited me into their circles, ceremonies, retreats, and rituals.

Mama Julia was the first healer who truly taught me the roots of this path: inner child work, anger practices (such as hitting a tire with a bat), body-based healing, massage, and reclaiming one’s voice.

Later, yoga teachers like Rima Miller and my time at Upaya Zen Center (where Roshi Joan Halifax and other powerful women were in residence) deepened my exposure to what true women’s leadership looks like.

It was when I became a mother that I really understood what true women’s leadership was.

Pregnancy, birth, and postpartum – the ordeal and the miracle – made me see how little support and acknowledgement women often receive. That realization ignited my passion for helping women break free.

I delved deeper into this work, drawing on Women’s Spirituality and Psychology Studies, as well as the theories of Jean Baker Miller, Marija Gimbutas, and Marion Woodman.

As I followed my curiosity, I saw clearly how cultural conditioning leads to what I call Modern Detachment Syndrome – the disconnection women feel from their bodies, desires, voices, and true selves.

Like fish swimming in water, we don’t always see the environment that surrounds us until someone helps us breathe outside of it.

Women often struggle with the instinct to care and nurture – qualities that are frequently undervalued in society – and many end up devaluing themselves in the process. Others “turn masculine” to gain recognition, or lose themselves entirely by prioritizing everyone else.

Daily life often resembles running around, putting out fires, being everything for everyone, and achieving and performing – yet feeling empty, resentful, and unfulfilled at the end of the day.

WomenFind your voice and be your authentic self.

Women are taught, overtly and subtly, that their whole selves — their anger, grief, sadness, desire for rest, and need for space — are unacceptable in a culture that values women as “pretty, small, quiet, meek, and of service or value only in relationship to caring for others.”

Many learned early to abandon their authenticity in exchange for a sense of connection.

They became “good girls,” hooked on external validation instead of self-esteem. People-pleasing and codependency were brilliant survival strategies at the time, but now they’ve become cages.

This often occurs in relationships when red flags are ignored to “keep the peace” or avoid being perceived as “too much.” It shows up in parenting when the very children you’re trying to protect trigger old wounds, and in careers when women over-function, do the bulk of the labor, and quietly resent it.

“Right HerStory is an enriching experience of self-exploration and discovery! Through the program, Tanya helped me to find my voice and ease of expression. Relationships in my life transformed because I no longer feel resistance in sharing my true self.”

GrillTransformation requires going beneath the surface.

Women who work with me often say they finally feel safe, truly seen, validated, and empowered. That sense of being deeply rooted in themselves allows for real, lasting change.

It’s like finally getting an accurate X-ray. Once we see what’s actually going on beneath the surface, we can address the root instead of chasing symptoms.

My approach is informed by years of experience and a range of tools.

Some of those tools are as follows:

RIFRA Methodology blends depth psychology, inner child/parts work, women’s spirituality, and somatic healing. Inner Child Work supports the vulnerable parts that learned to trade authenticity for a sense of belonging.

Somatic Therapy helps you come back into the body through Somatic Experiencing®, yoga, and dance. This is where women rediscover their preferences, desires, and resistances and learn to trust them again.

Expressive Arts involves movement, sound, drawing, and play as ways to bypass perfectionism and reconnect with inner truth.

Spirituality helps explore religious trauma and reclaiming values and beliefs outside of dogma.

Attachment and Relationship Work address codependency, love addiction, and patterns that keep women stuck.

I don’t do endless looping talk therapy. Our sessions weave insight with action. We’ll work with your nervous system at the pace it can handle, and I’ll often give you “homework” practices so what you learned moves off the couch and into your life.

“I loved the Deep Circles! It was a safe and supported place where I could be as vulnerable and honest as I needed to be.” — Silvija

It is possible for women to have

  • Relationships where they can be their authentic selves without guilt.
  • Confidence and clarity in their choices.
  • Permission to rest when needed.
  • Energy and overflow to pursue what fills them.
  • Alignment between their values, their voice, and their daily lives.

WomenWhat does healing involve?

Healing involves greater trust in yourself, including your heart, power, decisions, and desires.

It means devoting energy to what fills your cup instead of what drains it. It seems like living in authenticity, not apology.

“When I first met Tanya, I was a broken woman with no hope and very little happiness in my life. Through her genuine belief in me and encouragement, I was able to finally believe in myself. In only 7 months, my life has changed 100%. Tanya helped me realize my worth, discover who I want to be, and helped me start that journey.”

Women’s therapy makes healing possible.

We’ve all been there – stuck, doom scrolling for solutions, but afraid to take the next step. You might ask, “Will this really be worth it? Can I actually have lasting change?” You don’t have to keep scrolling for answers. There’s no magic pill to erase sadness or struggle, but there is a path to freedom.

Together, we’ll work on strengthening the muscle of speaking your truth, setting boundaries, and following your desires. I’ll teach you how to befriend your fears, grief, and anger, rather than fearing them, and to step into your life with more clarity and courage.

Some providers will partner with you to create change, and I’m one of them. If you’re ready, I’ll meet you halfway.
